Back-to-School Welcome Letter

Send your students a welcome letter to include information about Open House and what to expect. Open your letter with "I am tickled to be your teacher this year!" and include a feather with your note. Your kids will be tickled to receive this note from you in the mail!

Make sure your students' work is the center of attention at home. Use clothespins & attach a magnet strip to the back of each one. Have children decorate mini people cut-outs with markers or collage materials and glue to the front of the clothespin. Lastly, attach this poem: "I made this special magnet/On my very first day/So you would make sure my work/Is always on display!"

In a Pickle...
Help develop problem-solving skills with this circle time activity. Use an old pickle jar & fill it with pickle cut-outs. On each pickle, write an open-ended situation such as "You saw someone push someone else down." Pick one or two each day and talk about what you would do. With older groups, have them come up with the situations too.
